Who's the culprit?

So my children find strange things to play with. Lately for Luke he uses the vegetable peeler for a sword. Jacob likes to use a mini stapler for a phone (staples not included, that would be painful!) and Andrew likes a couple of spatulas. With their wild imagination I can only imagine who did this.
You know it would have taken a strong force to do it. No one has confessed but I have my suspicions. Which of these cuties? BriLynn does have a worried face ha ha!

Readers Theater

Danika's class did a Readers Theater on Friday. She was the mouse in the Little Red Hen. I think the kids had fun. They had popcorn afterwards. There were only a few parents but I was glad that we went (Kevin took some time off work to go). I think it shows Danika how much we care about the things she does in school. I don't remember my Dad being into my schooling while growing up. Not that it's a bad thing but I love how Kevin tries to attend things like that. He also likes to go to parent teacher conferences. Good job little mouse.

Asleep at dinner again!

First here is a pic of BriLynn. The kids had a kick putting this hat on her. Jacob has been struggling with nap times. He is stubborn! I try to put him down and he just screams in his room. I've let him scream himself to sleep before. Well today he didn't take one and fell asleep just before dinner. Kevin picked him up and I had to grab the camera after he was flinging his arms around and stayed asleep. I was impressed with Kevin's impromptu song too he he, take a look. (Remember to turn the sound off below)

To read or not to read, that is the...

So my sister Susan told me an author who writes love stories. They are not like harlequin romances (heaving bosoms type stories ha ha). I have really enjoyed reading them. I get upset when I finish one and have to wait to get another from the library. It's like Twilight all over again. They are really easy reads. Have any of you read any of Marcia Lynn McClure's books? Do you like them? If you haven't I would recommend them. What are you reading? Is there a certain author you like? Maybe a type of book? What's your favorite book? Would you like me to ask more questions? he he.

WARNING: SCARY PICTURES

Yesterday our RS had a Chocolate Night. Ummm... chocolate. Unfortunately I made myself sick making the chocolate treat I took (go figure). Anyway one girl made a chocolate facial. I decided to try it and as I came down the stairs with it on my face Kevin just laughed and laughed. Then he grabbed the camera.
Of course I have to do an after picture right? So this is scary picture #2. Me with no makeup on. If any of you know me I will not leave the house without makeup on... I even put on Mascara to go walking in the morning. I just can't do it so this is pretty daring for me. Please be kind he he. Maybe you can't tell from the picture but I'm suppose to be doing a "wow feels so soft" look.PS Just if your wondering, at no point did I lick my face.

You have got to be kidding!!!

On Monday I mowed the back lawn since the grass was so long. Today.....I'm shoveling?
So not cool! Anyway, since you may be inside for the next couple days. Make some sugar cookies. A lot of you asked if I could share the recipe I had so here you go. Let me know what you think. Use anything you want for the frosting.

Old fashion soft sugar cookies

1/2 cups shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. each vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon
3 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sour cream

Mix first four ingredients on the list. Add a little flour, soda and salt then a little sour cream...until both are gone. Roll out to about 1/4 inch or bigger. Cut out and bake at 400 degrees for 5-8 minutes. Ovens are all different so watch them. Enjoy.

What a great day!

It was nice to have so much family here for Danika's baptism. This picture is with Kevin's parents, his Brother Scott and his wife Stephanie in front of the Tabernacle. Can you see the resemblance between them? I've caught myself talking to Scott thinking it was Kevin before ha ha. It's really nice that our Stake font is at the Tabernacle, such a historical place. Congratulations Danika, you are a beautiful little girl and we love you very much!!!
Afterwards Kevin's parents hid eggs in the backyard for the kids to find. Then to end the day Kevin and I went on a date to the temple. What a great day!

Ummm Easter Eggs

I decided to try a chocolate peanut butter Easter egg recipe that I saw in the Newspaper. We had some friends over to try them. It was a lot of fun. The girls had a good time decorating the eggs. Tomorrow is Danika's Baptism. I'll have to post some pictures of that later but until then, I hope you all have a WONDERFUL EASTER SUNDAY! May you not get sick from eating too much chocolate, he he! What a great time to be joined by family.
How grateful we are for our Savior and Brother! He is Risen!

Sigh...

So I was sorting through the mess of paperwork on my cupboard and files and guess what I found... The letter I wrote to myself before I had BriLynn. I wrote it in hopes that it would help me with baby blues. Thankfully I never had the blues so I didn't worry about getting it out. I read it and had a good cry. There was a couple lines that did it. I wrote: "You may think, how am I going to be able to handle five kids? Remember you are BLESSED with five kids. Heavenly Father sees you a fit mother to care for his precious children. Love them!" Ahh... tears of joy eh? Anyway today the kids had fun painting, here are the artist. (note that Jacob isn't there....I don't dare get paints out with him awake he he, can ya blame me?) They painted a baseball holder thing we made at Lowes. Now to clean up the mess.....

Spring Break

My kids have Spring Break this week WOO HOO. I love it when they are home. It's nice that it's warmer so they can go out and play. Anyway, this last weekend all my sisters went to my Grandma Steeles house to help clean. She is 91 and is starting to feel her age. I'm amazed at how much she still can do. As far as I know she is still gardening and bottling. Danika was a big help, she loved to dust a little too much though. Kids just can't spray once when cleaning glass or wood. While there my sweet twin sister Susan gave me a Hooter Hider.... HA HA I can't say it without laughing. I think it's such a funny name. I feel like the hyena on lion king, "Mufasa" say it again "hooter hider" HA HA.

Headbands and Sentsy

My friend Heather made me some cute cute bows when I had BriLynn. I had some friends comment on them and she had mentioned that she would be willing to teach us how to make them. So last night we got together and made some. I think they turned out really cute. Here is a picture of BriLynn wearing the first one I made. I don't know about you but she looks happy with how it turned out he he. Here are the ones we made. We made all flower ones. We thought we could get together and work on the ribbon bows next time. One things for sure, all our little girls we be CUTE!!! (not like they wouldn't be without bows :) Thanks so much Heather for helping us.
Also, I am having a Sentsy openhouse tonight. Anyone is welcome. It's from 6-8 so come whenever and if you don't need any just come to chat and snack.

April Fools Day

So I think my kids are a little young to understand the pranks I have played today so far. It was lots of fun to watch them try to drink their orange juice (orange jello). The looks on their faces was priceless. They knew something wasn't right. Then I told them it was time they started having more chores. I pulled out a chore chart I made. I told Andrew his new chore was to balance the checkbook. He just looked at me and said "What does balance mean?" Then I told Danika her chore was to hand wash the clothes and to hold them outside till they dry. She just said "why can't I use the washing machine?" Daddy's job was to lick 100 stamps for the mail and mine was to cut the grass in the front yard with nail clippers. Even when I mentioned BriLynn's job would be to make the beds everyday they still didn't get it....SHE'S A BABY! HA HA April Fools... Oh well, I'm thinking in a few years it will be funner to prank them. I tried to prank Kevin but he got it early. Last night after he came home from his meetings I put a parking ticket on his truck. Well I didn't expect him to go back outside but he found it. He said at first he thought it was real and that he got it at the church but after reading that the fine was $100,000,000, he knew is was a joke. The violation was not using the vehicle to get ice cream for the family. Oh well, I hope you all have a Happy April Fool's Day and that you get to pull some good pranks.
