Just Precious!

This Monday my sister Shelly had a baby boy. They named him Drayson. He is tiny, weighing in at 5 lbs 13 oz. Well maybe that isn't really tiny but I've never had a baby that small. He is a miricle baby. My sister was on birth control. They had been trying for years and gave up. She went in to the doctor to see if her birth control needed to be changed since her body was doing funny things and found out she was prego. This little one came nine years after his sister.I can't wait to meet the little guy this weekend. I'm also excited for my niece Destiny. She is my twin sister Susan's daughter, she is going to be baptised on Halloween.

Awards and Advice

Posted by Picasa

Today in the mail the kids received their awards for completing the Governors summer reading challenge. I was excited to see that they received coupons for free kids meals to McDonald's, Sizzlers, Red Robin and Chuck A-Rama. Call me cheap but I can't spend three bucks for a corn dog kids meal when I can make them one at home for 25 cents. Hence why we rarely take our children out to eat. It will be nice to have them eat for FREE :)
Tonight as the kids were getting ready for bed Kevin asked them if they had brushed their teeth. Luke said he did. We knew he was lying and so Kevin gave him this wise advice:
Kevin: Do you know what happens to liars?
Luke: No
Kevin: Have you ever heard of liar liar?
Luke: No
Kevin: If you lie, your pants will burst into flames.

LIKE TOTALLY!

We have noticed a problem in our home. The word "like". Both Kevin and I have caught ourselves saying it more than we thought we did. Tonight as we sat around the table for dinner we challenged the kids to not use it unless it was properly used. It was like totally said, like so many times when it like didn't need to be HA HA. Are there words you find yourself using improperly? Or phrases that have become habit? I find myself using "umm" and "so" a lot also. This is something I'm going to have to work on. So if ever you are talking to me and notice me saying them, just pinch me.

You know your tired when...

You stay asleep while your little sister bounces up and down on you and pulls your ear.
Or...you fall asleep at the table like this.

A night of Buccaneers, Booty and Bloodshed

We went to a friends home for a Halloween Murder Mystery party this last Saturday. It was titled Murder Among the Mateys. Kevin was the Cutthroat McPhearson and I was a Galley Wench named Gurglin' Uma Scarr. The only sad thing about the night was that BriLynn would scream whenever she saw Kevin. Poor girl, I think it was his teeth. I scored the high heal boots at DI for four bucks. The top I got online at eBay for 99 cents. It was fun to dress up and act out our parts. Before we left Danika kept calling me a pirate wrench.

Eww

I was tearing out the zucchini plants and saw this little garden snake. I told the kids to come and see it. Danika wanted to catch it and was not afraid at all...ewwww. Must be her fathers DNA. On another note, Kevin and I got a new mattress. We pulled the old one down into the living room. We told the kids the whole rule about jumping on the bed doesn't apply to this one and to "have at it". Sorry about the spots on the picture, the camera lens was dirty. I had fun too, look at me catch air HA HA. Did you know that it's recommended that you change mattresses every five to seven years? Yikes, that gets expensive. We had this bad boy for almost 10 years. Farewell my old friend.

To get them...or not to get them?

Today Danika is home from school with a fever. She is feeling a ton better than last night. She had a massive headache. The poor girl was so scared she was going to die from it. We had to explain to her that a lot of people get headaches and she wouldn't die. It got me thinking...about flu shots. Do you and your family get them? We usually do. Kevin's work has a clinic for all the employees and their families. It was suppose to be tomorrow but the Health Department ran out of flu shots. I read in the paper that the H1N1 flu mist is now available. Do you plan on getting that vaccination? I wonder if the government just wants people to feel protected and optimistic about the whole thing and the shot is just a placebo. I know I think to much he he. What is your take on flu shots?
