Thanks for all the words of encouragement on the last post....especially all of you that said I of course shouldn't give up the chocolate! I'm eating a candy bar for each of you he he. I have two more questions though. I get postpartum for a few weeks, I guess they also call it baby blues. I'm hoping that with me thinking about it now and preparing, it won't be so bad. It is usually only a couple weeks but I hate going through it every time. Kevin's aunt had told me she used St. Johns Wart with her last and thinks it helped. My doctor said she couldn't either recommend it or say anything to keep me from taking it since she has not read anything about it. I'm seriously thinking about trying it. I was just wondering if any of you have advice for this issue?
As for the second question....I've been looking online at Vacuum cleaners. Ours bit the dust (no pun intended) after 10 years. My parents had bought it for me for college (RIP ye old Hoover). So what do you use? Do you like it? Would it work well on stairs? There are a lot of stairs in our house so it would be nice if it was light to take up and down them. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them. Thanks!

I hate the baby blues. It really does only last a few weeks. My biggest suggestion is one you already will have thought of. Get everything READY.
As for the vacuum, I will only buy Hoovers. They do last forever!
I just bought a bagless at Bed Bath and Beyond for around $100. (You can usually find a coupon for BBB online or in the paper.) I like it so far and it has been nice knowing that I will not have to buy bags anymore!!
what about a vacuum repair shop? when our tv broke we took to a place and it didn't cost that much to fix.
I do not know much about St. John's Wart. Personally, I tend to stay away from herbs...I believe that they work, but I have issues with the fact that they are not regulated by the FDA. My "doc" in Logan, Ken Wade, feels the same as I do. He specializes in women's hormones/moods, but last I heard he was away with the National Guard until the end of October. He would be a great person to talk to, though. He travels around the country presenting at conferences about Women's hormones, so he's "up on the latest".
As for vacuum's, I have the Eureka Boss, and it's the second one I've owned because I liked it. Travis and Cami recommeneded it years ago (travis used to be a vaccuum repairman at the Cleaning Center). He called it "the best of the 'cheap' vacuums", and it has been the number one consumer rated for a LONG time. My grandma also has it and likes it, and my cousin bought one and likes it too.
I'm not sure how great it would be to haul up and down stairs very often, I try to avoid it myself :o). The hose works great on my stairs, and my kids usually do that part for me :o).
I've also been told that a bagless vacuum will never suck as good as one with a bag (from the Cleaning Center ladies).
My NEXT choice, which is pricer, would be a Dyson. Three of Todd's siblings have a Dyson and they like it, but they cost more than twice as much as the Eureka. But, my vacuum had a sticker on it that says it outcleans Dyson. The Eureka Boss varies in cost, but I got my first one for $120ish at Sam's Club and it lasted 5 years. I figured I got my money's worth. My second was from Wal-Mart and I think it was around $150. I can already tell it's not going to last as long...but I am hard on vacuum's. We have a wood burning stove and I am constantly vacuuming up woodchips (daily in the winter) that are probably too big.

Hey I have tried St Jhons Wart I think that is worked really well for a short term treatment I took it when I was younger I think that if your Dr said it is ok you should try it I don't think it could hurt it will either work or it won't??? Your getting close!!
Well, since this is my field of study right now I'll give you an ear full. You'd think my first suggestion would be an herb. But, honestly, there are a few routes that you can go (I've used the three I'll recommend.)
1. The easiest and the one that you will notice the most difference with is, Zoloft. Research says that a Very minimal amount of the medicine gets to the baby through breast milk. I have used antidepressants with all of my pregnancies and during my nursing and so far there doesn't seem to be any effects to my kids. You can take a minimal amount for the two weeks (noticing a difference within a day) and you can (despite what people say) go off of it slowly within another couple of weeks without crazy side effects.
2. An Amino Acid called 5-HTP. It works similar to an antidepressant; it is just a natural approach. This will take a lot longer to notice any difference and the effects will be a lot milder. Not that an antidepressant has a wild effect, it's just formulated to make a clear and noticeable difference. Natural approaches try to help your body work the way they are supposed to.
3. Nutrition and vitamin supplements. This takes the most work and will need to be started now. You'll have to ask me for more thoughts if this is the approach you want to go. But the vitamins I HIGHLY recommend are: RAINBOW LIGHT Complete Prenatal System Multi-Daily Program AND, NSI Mega EFA Omega-3 EPA&DHA

hey sandra i have read up on st. johns and it is not good for breastfeeding. I was looking into anything more on the natural side of things for my postpartum. Mine seems to last... well Payton is 7 months now and I still have days but I did it this time with no meds. I was determined to stay away from any hard meds from the doctor. I did that with Reagan and I had no emotion and no voice, and it seemed one med would affect me in a way that I would go back and need to get put on another to counter act the other so then I was on two and the cycle continued... I for sure recommend staying the natural herbal route. I did take a supplement called womens X-action with Payton. its to enhance your labedo (did I spell that right, oh well) but I took it for my postpartum and it worked. (It did not enhance anything for me.) Sorry if that is more than you wanted to know. I am just giving you what I know. Another great thing is that your aware now of what is happening. I didn't even realize what I was suffering from until Reagan was 9 months and that time was pretty severe. Sorry this comment is a bit confusing. One more thing that I did shortly after I had Payton (with him having to stay in the hospital) I had Ryan give me a blessing(if that isn't to religious for blogging) I know it tamed mine.

Well, so far can't relate to the baby blues issue, but once I get pregnant and have a kid, I'll get back to you on that. About the vacuum though, the only vacuum we've had in our marriage is the one Mark's mom gave us when she bought a new one. Honestly, I think it's a Hoover, but I'm not very impressed. It's way heavy, and it does suck stuff up, but I would much rather have a lighter weight, bagless vacuum. Changing the bag is never completely clean, and it's hard to know when it's too full to keep using it. My cue to check is when I smell a faint aroma of burning rubber. Hence why I want a bagless where I can see the dirt and how full it is. Someday I'll get a the vacuum of my dreams, but I don't know when that will be.
