No No's

We got this exercise ball awhile ago and just recently pumped it up again. I'm sorry to say that the wall has touched it more than a person exercising. The kids have found this to be a great toy lately. I know they probably shouldn't (we have already had two bruised foreheads and I've been hit in the noggin by it), but it's fun to watch them play and laugh.Their favorite thing to do is jump from one couch onto the ball then roll to the other couch. I must admit it looks fun and if I could, I would try. So my question is......Do you let your kids do things like this? Things you wouldn't have gotten away with doing growing up? I know this would be a total "no,no" for me as a kid.

Sometimes its hard for me to just say, "She's just being a kid - what is she hurting?" When I can grasp that perspective she gets away with a lot more.
The exercise ball tricks do sound fun though. And I bet they are even getting some exercise out of it. :)

I agree with the other Tina. I need to say that to myself more often. This summer thing has had it's ups and downs with that. My kids are board so they are getting on each others nerves. I have to take time to come up with ideas so they can just be kids and have fun. I might give the ball thing a try.

I think that the view of children has changed. I am a person who growing up wasn't allowed to do a lot of things...i.e. Run through the house, play in the living room...etc. etc.
I personally think that because children are no longer meant to be seen and not heard that we are more relaxed when kids do things like that. I let my kids run around all of the time. I do however have to make sure they know that in some peoples houses that is not acceptable. So I would have to say yes I do let my kids get away with a LOT more than I got away with as a kid.

randy had a tough day with the kids while I was at work and he was asking me "will they ever grow out crying, whining, etc?" so I read him your blog about the popsicles, commenting that the westwoods are the next thing to godliness. his response was "hmm guess not, if the westwoods kids are crying over broken popsicles, I guess we can't expect much better". keep up the blog sandra, it seriously helps us put child raising in perspective!

Anxiously awaiting Food Frenzy Friday!! :) Bring it on.
Also, you forgot the silver yesterday. I put the bottle in my purse so I could give it to you last night - but I never took it out. Ha! Sorry I'm such a spaz. Anyway, I still have it, and you're still welcome to it!

Wait, did I hear you right? Karin and Mike are in town? I'm surprised that we didn't know about it. I'm in SLC but just until Saturday, if we had known we would have planned to be down here. Oh well, what can ya do? We'll miss seeing you guys! We'd try to drive down but with me already driving back and forth this week it's not in the budget. Oh the life of poor college students. ;) Wish we could be there, tell everyone hello for us!
